Crews fight vegetation fire in Janesville, fire burns two acres

UPDATE regarding Monday's fire Tuesday, June 3 — A brush fire off Oak Tree Lane had firefighters rushing to Janesville Monday afternoon June 2.

Crews were dispatched out at approximately 12:10 p.m. to Oak Tree Lane, between County Road A-3 and Jeter Road.

The fire was contained at approximately 1:30 p.m. and burned approximately 2-1/4 acres, according to Eric Ewing, chief of office of emergency services.

He said three homes were directly threatened, but no structures or other property was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Six engines, two water tenders, two hand crews and one dozer responded in addition to one air attack plane, which monitors the incident from the air.

A tanker and helicopter were also dispatched, but were not needed, according to Ewing. 


 

Monday, June 2, 2014 — Emergency responders are battling a vegetation fire in Janesville.

At about 12:30 p.m. today, Monday, June 2, firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a brush fire off Oak Tree Lane.
