Juvenile hall budget cuts sought

Tuesday, May 20, 2014 — Lassen County staff is continuing to find ideas to reduce a $1.3 million the juvenile hall budget.

According to Lassen County administrative officer Richard Egan, several options are being looked at which will reduce the budget by $15,000. Those ideas are moving some of the juvenile hall staff into other areas of the probation department to create a reduction of a 3/4 Full Time Equivalent.

Staff is also looking at partnering with the Lassen County Jail in coordinating the control board during non-waking hours at juvenile hall to further reduce one to two full time equivalents.

Egan said he and acting probation officer Jennifer Branning brought the options to the budget committee on Monday, May 12.
