Three arrested in business burglary
Tuesday, May 6 — Three men were arrested in connection with a burglary of a Susanville business on Monday, May 5.
At approximately 9 a.m. Susanville police officers responded to the store on Main Street on a reported burglary that had just occurred. Officers were advised three suspects had fled the store with a shopping cart full of stolen items valued at approximately $290 and employees were pursuing them on foot.
A sheriff’s deputy located and detained James Dilley, 18, of Susanville, at Riverside Park. Dilley was taken into custody and booked into the Lassen County Jail for second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance. He was being held on a $30,000 bail.
At approximately 11 a.m. officers responded back to the business after an employee reported one of the suspects had returned to the area. Officers made contact with Kasey Hoffman, 37, of Susanville, and took him into custody without incident.
He was booked into jail for second-degree burglary, making terrorist threats toward an employee and violation of parole. Bail was set at $30,000 but he was held on a parole hold.
At approximately 2 p.m. officers responded to the area of Main Street and a nearby motel after being advised the third suspect was walking around the area. Officers made contact with Herman Shepherd, 28, of Susanville and took him into custody without incident. Shepard was booked into the jail on second-degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on $22,500 bail.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office.
