Stone settles wrongful termination, slander lawsuit against county, Pyle
Thursday, April 17, 2014 — Elisa W. Ungerman, attorney for former Lassen County Administrative Officer Tom Stone, will file an “unconditional” request for the dismissal of Stone’s wrongful termination and slander suit within 45 days in Lassen County Superior Court because the parties have negotiated a settlement in the case.
According to a courthouse clerk, the settlement agreement is not part of the court file.
Stone alleged he was wrongfully terminated in 2011 after he became a whistleblower who revealed information regarding the alleged misuse of redevelopment grant funding in the Herlong area. He also alleged Lassen County District 1 Supervisor Bob Pyle slandered him.
Lassen County Executive Officer Richard Egan said the county is preparing a press release regarding the settlement.
