Fire burns Westwood residence
|Monday, March 24, 2014 — Firefighters from CalFire and six fire districts in Lassen and Plumas counties responded to an early morning fire at a residence located at the corner of Birch and Third streets in Westwood on Monday, March 24. According to Dustin Russell, a Lassen County Sheriff’s deputy, no one was injured in the fire.|
Northeastern Rural Healthcare had used the structure as the Westwood Clinic, but the former clinic has been converted to a residence. The contents of the building were still burning after 8 a.m. as firefighters continued to battle the blaze. A bystander said the firefighters used a ladder from a fire truck to cut a hole in the roof earlier as part of the firefighting process.
