Community meets with pool consultant
Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 — More than two dozen local residents met with Justin Caron, principal vice president of the Aquatic Design Group, to discuss options for a community pool in Susanville at a public workshop held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Susanville City Council Chambers.
Caron said his firm has designed more than 100 pool projects — both indoor and outdoor — including some at higher elevations than Susanville and others in cold weather climates.
City administrator Jared Hancock, who serves as the executive officer for the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority, a group created by a joint powers agreement and comprised of two members of the Susanville City Council, two members of the Lassen County Board of Supervisors and an appointed public member, introduced Caron to the local residents. The city council and the board of supervisors each have agreed to allocate as much as $200,000 per year for 15 years for the community pool project.
