Now registering for their before and afterschool childcare program for K-fifth grade. Leap Ahead’s open house will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 for parents to ask questions and enroll their child. Their hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are located on the Meadow View campus and transportation to and from McKinley School is provided by the Susanville School District. They are open most holidays, training days, and school vacations. After school program includes snacks, homework help and Accelerated Reading testing. Classes are limited; please register early. SWING FOR CANCER
Northern California Cancer Advocates is hosting their first golf tournament scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31 at Diamond Mountain Golf Course. This local organization recently formed as a nonprofit to help local individuals during their time of need in fighting cancer. It's a shotgun start beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by dinner. Curt and Dana Hirsche, owners of Leslie's Jewelry in Susanville, are retiring! They plan to close the store on Dec. 24 this year. As a result of their upcoming retirement, if you have any jewelry repairs needed now is the time to take them up to their store. They will be accepting repair jobs until Sept. 30 only. That will give Curt the time needed to make all repairs necessary.

LEGACY JOURNEY SEMINAR
Lassen Missionary Baptist Church is sponsoring The Legacy Journey seven-week course by syndicated radio show host Dave Ramsey.
