Monday, July 1 — According to a Susanville property owner on Adella Street, while trying to unclog a sewer system in the backyard, he struck a corroded natural gas pipe with a shovel springing a gas leak. The police department, the Susanville Fire Department, CalFire, the city water and gas department and the county office of emergency services all responded to the scene with more than 90-degree temperatures. Residents on the left side of Adeline Street and the houses on either side of the scene were evacuated by police officers. The valve was pinched to stop the leak. No injuries were sustained.
