Truck hits a man in wheelchair on Main Street
UPDATE: 3:22 p.m. June 6, 2013: According to the Lassen County Sheriff's office, Robinson's family called and notifed them of his death.
June 6, 2013 — A Susanville man was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno by a Mountain Lifeflight helicopter after a truck hit him in a Main Street crosswalk between Lassen High School and the Veterans Memorial Hall.
According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, Thomas Irven Robinson, 68, of Susanville, was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Charles Bradley Illes, 49, of Chico, about 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Robinson was riding on a power chair in the crosswalk when the truck hit him. Traffic control lights regulate the crosswalk.
According to the press release, the case is still under investigation, and “a formal cause of the collision has not yet been determined.”
