Woman allegedly assaulted by burglar
May 31, 2013 — On Thursday, May 30 at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of S. Fairfield Avenue on a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted a 32-year-old female who reported she woke up to find an unknown subject in her residence, possibly rummaging through her belongings. The victim reported she was struck a few times about the face and head by the intruder who then fled the residence with some personal property including her wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash inside.
The victim received injuries, which included swelling and a small laceration on her head and forehead. The victim declined to be transported to the hospital, however she was treated for her injuries at the scene by medics.
The case remains under investigation. The Susanville Police Department is encouraging anyone with information in this case to call its 24-hour dispatch line at 257-2171. You may remain anonymous.
