Sheriff’s Office conducts sex registrant sweep
On Tuesday, May 14, deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sex registrant sweep for the areas of Susanville Bieber, Doyle, Eagle Lake, Herlong, Janesville, Little Valley, Milford, Nubieber, and Termo. During the sweep, deputies attempted to contact 27 registered sex offenders and contacted 16 of them. Of those 16 registrants contacted, three were arrested and cases were submitted to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office. Two additional cases were initiated for further investigation. The remaining registrants were deemed to be in compliance with their registration requirements.
This sweep was conducted with funding from the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Grant. The grant provides funding to the sheriff’s office for compliance checks on sex offenders and investigation of sex crimes in the community.
For questions regarding the grant or sex registrants in your area, call Detective Wes Gray or Community Services Officer Sheri Tripp at 251-8013.
