April 25, 2013 — The Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will be performing for local school children at 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., Friday, April 26.
The Susanville Symphony has partnered with the Reno Youth Orchestra, the Assembly of God Church and the Lassen County Superintendent of Schools Office to provide this entertainment.
The Susanville Symphony is sponsoring it as a random act of culture for April to help celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The Superintendent of Schools Office of Education has helped coordinate bussing of first grade thru fifth grade students from local elementary and charter schools to the Assembly of God Church for one of the two concerts. Each concert will be approximately one half hour long.
Dana Hirsche, executive director of the Susanville Symphony, said,
“I'm so very excited about this project. It just validates our continued dream to bring music to our community. This is all at no cost to the students. The Assembly of God church is donating the space, the superintendent of schools is providing the bussing, the Susanville Symphony is providing a pizza lunch, Susanville Supermarket donated cookies and the Reno Philharmonic is providing the youth orchestra — all for free. This shows what we can do if we all work together. This will also be a great tool to filter interested students towards our academy of music for next falls classes.”
