Depot employee allegedly smuggles military equipment
April 9, 2013 — A civilian employee at Sierra Army Depot has been charged with the alleged theft of sophisticated military equipment recently returned from Afghanistan and Iraq.
According to court documents, Devon Gregory Biggs Jr. 36, is accused of trying to smuggle nearly $85,000 worth of equipment from SIAD in Herlong.
Biggs was arrested Wednesday, April 3 and appeared in U.S. District Court Friday, April 5.
Biggs did not enter a plea during his first appearance in U.S. District Court in Sacramento on Friday. He is free on $50,000 bond and due back in court April 26.
