Sheriff's office seeks public comment
March 8, 2013 — The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public comments on its proposed grant application to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division to help manage off-highway vehicle recreation on public lands.
The public is welcome to attend a meeting or provide written comments at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at 1415 Sheriff Cady Lane in Susanville.
Written comments should be mailed to the sheriff’s office, attention John Bohl or sent by email to jbohl@co.lassen.ca.us.
The goal of the sheriff’s office is to enhance the responsible use and access to public lands and encourage safe, legal off-highway riding opportunities in the county. It is able to serve the off-highway community by providing local information, guidance and recent updates on riding conditions and the best places to ride.
The LCSO provides law enforcement services and patrol to the Fort Sage and Rice Canyon off-highway vehicle parks, as well as other areas throughout Lassen County. The LCSO is expanding its off-highway vehicle program to include an over-the-snow vehicle component to begin in 2013.
To view the preliminary grant request for 2012-2013, go to ohv.parks.ca.gov/.
For more information, call Bohl at the LCSO at 251-8013.
