Feb. 26, 2013 — The cast and crew of Susanville’s Best of Broadway production are busy putting the final touches on this year’s performance and celebrating the company’s 14th season.

Director Lisa Bernard said this year’s production will be a little bit shorter than previous shows, running about 90 minutes with an intermission.

The production, titled “Pure Imagination,” presents 18 musical numbers from six Broadway musicals (three numbers from each show) performed by about 90 cast members.

The cast features a number of veteran performers plus a crop of newcomers. The youngest cast member is only 4 years old, and the oldest cast member is 80.

Bernard said this year the directing duties were split between three directors.

Bernard will direct numbers from “Wicked” and “Brigadoon.” Susan Grant will direct numbers from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Suessical.” Sherry Williams will direct numbers from “The Addams Family” and “Shrek.”

Bernard said the show features “a solid hour of music” with many set and costume changes.

“It’s going to be a really fun show with a lot of humor,” Bernard said.

Best of Broadway performs at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 1 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Main Street in Susanville.

Tickets are available at the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce, Margie’s Book Nook, Treats Natural Pets Marketplace and at the door.

For more information, call Bernard at 257-4323.
