High school meeting continued tonight
Feb. 19, 2013 — Due to a lengthy closed session the Lassen Union High School District (LUHSD) continued many of its agenda items to a special meeting scheduled for 6:45 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 19.
At tonight’s meeting, the board will consider approving certificated layoffs, which have to be made by March 15, or the district will have to maintain its current staffing regardless of the budget. If it is later determined the layoffs are not needed, notices can be rescinded in May.
Proposals for the 2013-2014 calendar and changes to the curriculum guide will also be considered at tonight’s meeting.
The board is set to conduct a third reading for possible approval of its student wellness policy, a second reading of its board policy series and will conduct a first reading of board policy and administrative regulation and graduation requirements.
Public input and staff and principal reports will also be on the agenda and the Parent Teacher Student Association and representatives from the Associated Student Body may report on activities.
During the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, the board went into closed session at 6:35 p.m. and did not return to open session until 9 p.m.
Closed session items included two student expulsion cases, both students were expelled, an employee discipline/ dismissal/ release consideration and a meeting with a negotiator to consider labor negotiations with the California School Employees Association, LTA and Administration/Management and a personnel assignment order, which was unanimously approved.
When open session resumed, the board did approve items on its consent agenda.
For the general agenda, the board approved one item, which was eliminating the position of construction manager, which has been vacant for the past year.
