Margaret H. Wagner
Margaret Helen Wagner was born in Pittsburgh, Penn. in March 1939 to John James Hayes and Margaret Katherine Hayes — both Irish immigrants. She passed from this life Feb. 1, 2013 following a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer.
In 1963, Margaret left Pittsburgh and moved to Sacramento, Calif. There she worked as a teacher for David Reese Elementary School. In 1999, Margaret moved to Susanville, Calif. to live closer to her family.
To the fortunate people that met and knew her, Margaret was a lively, considerate, generous and loving woman with an amazing spirit. She truly loved her family with all of her heart; it was out of this love that she found the strength to live on against the hardship of cancer.
Margaret was a big fan of her hometown football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She also loved gorillas and followed their plight as a species. Among her favorite things were collectible dolls, plates, photographs of family and friends and posters of movies worked on by her son, Danny.
Even as she struggled against such a dark illness she had a way of making the world a bright and positive place. She was as an angel on Earth, a blessed gift from God. The love she had for her children provides strength for them to carry on as they try and cope with her absence here on Earth. God has called her to his house. She was guided into Heaven by her loving parents. We are thankful to God for the time we had with her on this Earth.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Carl Wagner, and her three children, Mary Blackard, Danny Wagner and Bridgett Cooper. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Briley Kibbie, Sebastian Cissney, Savannah Wagner, Jamee Edgar and Jacob, Logan and Emily Blackard; and her great-grandchildren, Arlic and Zachary Kibbie.
Margaret will be missed always. A vigil will be held in Susanville on Feb. 21, 2013. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sacramento on Feb. 23, 2013.
