Two Susanville residents arrested after Tuesday night shooting incidents
Jan. 16, 2013 — A collaborative investigation by the Susanville Police Department (SPD) and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two unidentified Susanville residents after a pair of shooting incidents Tuesday, Jan. 15.
According to a press release from the SPD, officers responded to the 100 block of N. Mesa Street about 9 p.m. after shots were reportedly fired into a residence.
The officers learned the suspects fired the shots into the residence from the alley and fled before they arrived.
A short time later, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a similar call on Johnstonville Road in which the suspects fired multiple rounds into a dwelling and an unoccupied vehicle and then fled the scene. No one was injured at either location.
The evidence collected at both scenes led investigators to believe the two incidents were connected.
As a result of the investigation, an adult male and a juvenile male, both of Susanville, were apprehended.
“It is our belief there are no suspects outstanding,” Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing wrote in the press release. “Due to the pending investigation, the identities of the individuals are being withheld at this time.”
According to Downing, “The investigation has been a collaborative effort between the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the Susanville Police Department. The excellent working relationship and collaborative efforts of the staff has resulted in the arrests of those involved in both incidents.”
Downing said he would also like to thank the Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for their assistance.
The cases are still under investigation. Anyone who has any information is urged to call the SPD’s 24-hour dispatch center at 257-2171. Callers may remain anonymous.
