Cause of attic fire still under investigation

Dec. 11, 2012 — The cause of an attic fire on Mountain Way in Janesville remains under investigation, according to Janesville Fire District Chief Dan Paulson.
Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at Mountain Way. Paulson estimated the fire had been burning in the attic for 15 to 20 minutes before discovery and had dropped into the kitchen when fire crews arrived.
According to Paulson, crews launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to salvage nearly all of the belongings in the home.
He said about $50,000 worth in damages was sustained to the roof and the kitchen.
Two engines and two water tenders from Janesville and the Susan River Fire Protection District were on scene.
