Sheriff's office releases name of victim in vehicle versus pedestrian accident

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who died in a pedestrian versus vehicle accident as Brandon Puckett.

Puckett, 30, of Susanville, sustained fatal injuries after being struck by several vehicles north of Bass Hill Road Thursday, Nov. 29, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

At approximately 5:39 p.m. CHP said it had received numerous calls about a traffic collision involving a vehicle versus pedestrian.

The CHP confirmed a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by a Standish resident, hit Puckett. The driver of the Blazer and the two passengers in the vehicle reported no injuries.

At the time of the collision, CHP said it was dark and there were strong winds and heavy rain was falling.

Puckett was reported as wearing dark-colored clothing and it appears he was standing in the traffic lane when he was struck, according to the CHP.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding the collision should call the Susanville Area CHP office at 257-2191 or 257-9605.
