Man surrenders after short standoff

Nov. 15, 2012 — On Nov. 15 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Susanville police officers responded to the Community Church located at 1400 Numa Rd. on a report of a suspicious subject, who was possibly armed, and sitting in his vehicle.

According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department (SPD), responding officers attempted to order the subject out of his vehicle but he refused. A perimeter was established as additional units responded to the scene.

After a short standoff involving negotiations, the man exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center to be evaluated by Lassen County Mental Health after being examined by a doctor.

No firearm was found in the man’s vehicle. No charges are being considered as of Nov. 15.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office and a parole agent from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation assisted the SPD during the incident.

It doesn't matter if he had a gun or not, when the cops get a call, they have to investigate. There's no need to disrespect the police officers in this town. They're just doing their jobs and trying to keep the citizens in this town safe so that you can go online and act like a jerk.

Yeah, thank goodness no "Correctional Officer" aka prison guard showed up! Otherwise this poor guy would have gotten a kill shot from a min-14!

Sheriff Growdon was even out there directing traffic. All hands on deck were put to work on this detail.

Hey, let's look at this a a drill. They have nothing to do but practice. Remember when the SPO beat up a man that they thought was drunk and uncooperative. He had cerebal palsy. Rembember when they beat up Dr. Thurgood. Short memories people.
