Prescribed burning advisory for Swains Hole area
Nov. 14, 2012 — Be advised of the following potential prescribed burn project.
The Eagle Lake Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest is planning on burning landing piles in the Swains Hole area this week, as follows:
•Descriptive Location: 3 miles Northwest of Poison Lake.
•Total acreage: 12 acres.
•Ignition planned: Nov. 14 through 16.
•Duration of ignition: One to three days, depending on conditions.
•Duration of smoke production: Three to five days after piles are ignited.
•Estimated direction of smoke travel: Varied, depending on weather conditions of the day.
•Communities or smoke-sensitive areas: The piles are next to Highway 44 and smoke will be visible from the highway. Signs will be placed along the highway, and piles will be ignited to keep any impacts from smoke to a minimum.
