Challengers currently tied for second seat on high school board

Friday, Nov. 9 — The race for a seat on the Lassen Union High School District Board of Trustees is now tied.

According to recent numbers posted on the Lassen County Clerk’s election results website, challengers Michelle Zubillaga and Jeff Atkinson both have 2,948 votes.

There are two seats up for election, and incumbent Ken Theobald remains in the lead with 3,206 votes.

According to Lassen County Clerk Julie Bustamante, there are 240 provisional ballots remaining to be verified; 25 damaged ballots and 77 ballots ready to be processed for a total of 342 ballots remaining in Lassen County.

Staff will be working this weekend to complete the process, according to Bustamante.

Tony Mallery remains in the lead for Lassen Superior Court Judge with 5,759 votes. Lassen County District Attorney Bob Burns has 4,432.

For the Lassen County Board of Education Trustee Area 1, challenger Bruce Davie and incumbent Todd Swickard remain in the lead for two available seats, while incumbent Dan Owens follows in third.

What an unusual problem? The final count is a tie? Anyone want to bet that when push comes to shove that a miracle vote will appear for the local boy?

On November 6, Zubillag had 2,434 votes and on November 7, Zubilag had 2,616 votes.

On November 6, Atkinson had 2,401 votes and on November 7, Atkinson had 2,572 votes.

Suddenly there is a tie?
