Fair accepting applications for holiday events

Nov. 2, 2012 — The staff at the Lassen County Fair is planning for the Christmas season and is accepting applications for its Holiday Craft Fair and Festival of Lights.

The holiday craft fair is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and from 10 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the fairgrounds.

According to Dany Carson, of the fair office, the craft fair will offer a little bit of everything with lots of homemade items including food and jewelry.

Vendors will be set up in Jensen Hall and the commercial, floral and art buildings.

If you are interested in being a vendor, applications and booth prices can be found at lassencountyfair.org.

Applications should be dropped off or mailed to the fair office at 195 Russell Ave. by Monday, Nov. 19.

However, the fair office will stop accepting applications if the booths fill up prior to the deadline date.

For more information, call 251-8900.

Festival of Lights

The Lassen County Fair is inviting businesses and community organizations to set up a light display for the annual Festival of Lights.

Each year, the Festival of Lights draws people to come look at the displays set up at the fairgrounds. Festival of Lights viewers can enjoy the display without even leaving their vehicles.

If you want to participate, setup is scheduled between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 19 through Nov. 29.

If you cannot make the dates or need to be on the grounds after 5 p.m., contact the fair office to make arrangements.

Displays must be taken down by Monday, Jan. 7.

In addition, if a group or organization sets up a display, they will have an opportunity to make some money by signing up to watch the displays and collecting donation money at the gates when the cars drive through. Those monitoring the lights will also be responsible for opening and closing the gates. Signups will be taken on a first come first served basis. In the past, some organizations have offered hot chocolate or goodies to those driving through.

Festival of Lights will be available for viewing every weekend in December until Christmas.

Festival of Lights will be open for viewing from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 5 to 8 p.m. Sundays.

It will also be available for viewing from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.
