Lassen boys gear up for league play
Lassen High School's boys' basketball team has endured its fair share of pain this preseason. The Grizzlies dropped three more games at the Pleasant Valley Tournament Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 3-5, placing their record at 4-12.
Lassen bowed to Pleasant Valley 80-47 to open the tournament and followed with losses to Anderson 64-42 and Gridley 58-35.
"We need to consistently play hard like we did again Pleasant Valley," Lassen head coach Paul Moore said. "We played our best game of the year against Pleasant Valley and two of our worst games against Anderson and Gridley."
Lassen's Mitch Lively led the way in scoring against the Vikings with 16 points. Travis Holmes and Jesse Chandler had eight against Anderson. Chris Peck scored 12 in the Gridley loss.
Lassen hosts North Valley Wednesday, Jan. 9 and starts Westside League play when it travels to Oroville Friday, Jan. 11.
Moore said he expects Corning, Orland and Oroville to battle it out for the WSL crown.
