Kelly Smith, of Hodge Podge Lodge, is once again having Santa in her store this year. You can visit with Santa from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 20 while you do your shopping. Remember Kelly has many different kinds of delicious handmade fudge, which makes a yummy gift for just about anyone on your list.


Sherri McBroome, of Sierra Jewelry, tells us they are open on Monday the week of Christmas as well as Christmas Eve.Now is the time to sign up for all their in-store drawings and giveaways. They are giving away more than $1,200 worth of gift certificates and prizes. They also just got a new shipment in of poo-pourri, and shoe-pourri — for those stinky shoes! They are available in "fashionista and gone fishing" gift packs.

Sherri also reminds us they are closed after Christmas until Jan. 5, for employee vacations and inventory.


From 3 to 6 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 19 is Ladies Day at the Elegant Iris and The Men's Den. Owners Dave and Blake Huhtala tell us their experts will be on hand to help you ladies find that perfect bow, fishing rod or whatever else you're looking for for the man in your life.

From 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 it's Men's Day. Once again the gift experts will be available to help you pick out that perfect gift for your lady. Whether it's a new camo jacket, a pretty sweater or maybe a fashionable scarf, let the experts help you out. There will be free refreshments both days, too.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, Eagle Lake Village, in conjunction with the Lassen County Animal Shelter, Treats Natural Pet Marketplace and SitSpot Canine Center is hosting Santa Paws, a holiday photo session for your dog and Santa. The Historic Uptown Susanville Association will be hosting a letter writing to Santa event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 and Margie’s Book Nook.
