Sergeant Tyler Lynn Abbott passed from this life to his eternal home with the Lord unexpectedly, Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at his residence following complications from recent surgery.

Born July 31, 1983 in Auburn, Calif., to Kennith and Shelly Abbott, Tyler and his family relocated to the Northeastern California community of Westwood at age two where he was raised and educated graduating from Westwood High School as a member of the "Class of 2001."

Affectionately known as "T Rex" for his tenacity on the football field, he was awarded the Westwood High Lumber Jack Coach's Award his senior year. He had also competed in the Westwood Little League as well as Jack Pack Basketball while growing up in Westwood.

Following his high school graduation, Tyler went to work in the construction trades working for Nathan Rice Construction.

In 2006 Tyler felt the need to serve his country and enlisted into the U.S. Army, taking basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mont., before being stationed in Alaska.

In 2011 he re-enlisted and as a member of the 3/8th Armor Division, he served his country in Iraq.

He returned stateside to be stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas. While serving in Alaska, Tyler had a life-changing encounter with a pretty young lady named Susan Short which led to the couple’s marriage on Sept. 3, 2008 in Anchorage, Alaska.

A devout Christian, Tyler was baptized in the Holy Land while serving in Iraq. A devoted family man, he had a deep love for both them and his country. He was an avid gun collector.

In passing, Tyler leaves his loving wife, Susan; and his children, Isaiah, Christine, Serena, Jadah and Alyssa, all of Ft. Hood, Texas; parents, Kennith and Sheila Abbott, of Westwood, and Shelly and Brian Smith, of Reno, Nev.; brothers, Jonathan, of Susanville, Joshua, of Ft. Polk, La., William, residing in England, and Michael, of Arizona; sisters, Candi, of New Mexico, and Kandra, of Chester; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be especially be remembered by all who he came in contact with for his sarcastic sense of humor.

A time of viewing, visitation and sharing took place Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel-Westwood followed by a Celebration of Tyler's Life at the Westwood Community Center.

Interment with full military honors followed in the Westwood Cemetery.

Judy Elaine Purser/Gomez passed on to our Lord about 9 p.m. Aug. 9, 2012 with the love of her life, Robert Wayne Gomez, by her side. Judy and Robert lived a wonderful life together for the past 25 years.

Judy was born in Weatherford, Texas on Aug. 9, 1949. She was 63 years old at the time of her passing, on her birthday.

Judy is survived by her mother, Treva KcKnight; her father, Carlie Plowman; her brother, Jack Plowman, 62; sisters, Pam Walker, 58, Glenda Reynolds, 55 and Ella Long, 54; children, Julianne Charlson, 47, Mike Wilson, 45 and Raymond Bailey, 37. Judy had seven grandchildren.

Her greatest loves were cooking, fishing and being in the woods.

Judy worked as a front-end manager for a Safeway Store in Texas in the early ‘80s. She moved to California and worked in the Butchers Union until 1988. Judy then moved to McCloud and became the mailroom supervisor through the early ‘90s. She then moved to Idaho to help run an assisted living facility. Judy returned to California (Susanville) 11 years ago to retire and grow old with Robert.

She will be missed and never forgotten by those who loved her.

There will be celebration of life held at Bartle Lodge, 16 miles East of McCloud on Highway 89 at noon Saturday, Aug. 25, for anyone wishing to attend.

Robert (Bob) A. Hardesty

Robert (Bob) A. Hardesty left his loving family and friends on Aug. 10, 2012 after a 7-1/2 month battle with breast cancer.With hospice care he was able to remain at his daughter’s home in Sparks, Nev. Bob was born in Lakeview, Ore. on Sept. 4, 1938 to Ernest and Juanita Hardesty, joining brother Lorne and sister Jackie one year later.

The family left the Lakeview area when Bob was 3 years old to move to Sierra Army Depot, in Herlong, Calif. where his father, who was a carpenter, helped build the base.

Bob attended school in Herlong, graduating from Herlong High School in 1957.He married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Huntley Hardesty, and attended a year of Lassen Junior College while adding to the family with a son, Robert, and two daughters, Lynda and Penny.

Bob loved Lassen County and all it had to offer as an avid outdoorsman and would take off fishing or hunting at a moment’s notice with family or friends.He loved all sports and took part in them all during his school years, even playing softball until he was 30.After an industrial accident in 1969 and his subsequent retirement from federal service, he moved his family to Ontario, Ore. and then to Baker City, Ore.

After selling their home in Baker City, Bob and Dixie bought a motorhome and became snowbirds, spending winters in Yuma, Ariz., summers in Oregon, spring in Nevada and fall on the Oregon coast and as many other places as they could fit in.Bob and Dixie loved to travel and were always planning the next outing with family or friends.

While in California, Bob was a Little League coach for many years and could always be found teaching and taking the neighborhood kids fishing or hunting.In Oregon he was a volunteer at the Christian Church Food Bank each month, server for senior lunches or helping a friend with a project.He was a Good Sam member and enjoyed many fun outings with good friends.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dixie, of 55 years; son, Robert, of W. Richland, Wash.; daughters, Lynda (Rick) McLellan, of Sparks, Nev., and Penny (Wolf) Clemens, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer and Nathan Hardesty, of Portland, Ore., Chase Clemens, of Trabuco Canyon, Lisa (Isaiah) Eukel, of Las Vegas, Nev., Ricky McLellan, of Alamogordo, N.M.; great-grandson, Dominick, of Las Vegas; nephews, Bart (Stephanie) Marsters, Bryan Marsters, Blake (Lynn) Marsters, of Herlong, and Brett (Julie) Marsters, of Paradise, Calif., Chad (Beth) Huntley, of Albuquerque, N.M.; nieces, Lorna Mae Thomas, of Baker City, Karen (Doug) Kircher, of Couer d’Alene, Idaho, Heidi and Heather Huntley, of Irvine, Calif.; and several cousins and many good friends who will miss him so much .

A Celebration of Life will be held at his daughter’s home in Sparks Aug. 25. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Neva Sue Landa passed away in her home on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012. Neva was born in Klamath Falls, Ore. on June 13, 1943, to Lifford and Maryanne Markham. She joined sister, Judy Anderson, and later her brother, Beau Markham.

The family came to make their home in Susanville in 1945. Neva graduated from Lassen High School in 1961 and soon after married Tony Landa. Their union produced three daughters. She made her career working for Citizen Utilities for 35 years.

She is survived by sister, Judy Anderson; brother, Beau Markham; daughters, Kendra and Danny Castro, Chris and Dale Brown and Shalise and Steve Owen; grandchildren, Nicholas and Gia Castro, Mackenzie and Calder Bailey, Eric and Lance Brown and Erin Murphy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and nine great-grandchildren.

Neva cherished every moment spent with her friends and family. We will all miss her dearly and memories of her will forever warm our hearts.
