Sparks wins close battle with LHS boys
Lassen High School's boys' basketball team is still in search consistency after falling to Sparks, Nev. last Wednesday and to Wooster in close games. The Grizzlies sputtered on offense early in the Sparks game, before trimming the Railroaders' lead to seven points at halftime.
Lassen head coach Paul Moore could not be reached for comment at press time. Before the Sparks game, Moore said his team needs to gain experience in order to compete later in the season.
"We're not up to speed with the teams we're encountering," Moore said. "We play well in spurts, not the entire length of the game. It's going to take time, but I think we''ll be competitive once league starts."
Lassen is coming off back-to-back, last-place finishes in the Westside League, winning just a combined three league games.
The Grizzlies return to action this week at the Reed Tournament in Sparks.
Then after Christmas, Lassen heads to Pleasant Valley in Chico Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 3-5.
Both varsity and junior varsity teams will compete.
