With her loving family at her side, Mary Elizabeth Bradford peacefully passed from this life at her residence in Janesville, Calif. Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2012 at the age of 95.

Born in Fort Smith, Ark. on Sept. 17, 1916 to the late Henry and Rachael (Sutton) Moody, Elizabeth as she affectionately became known was raised and educated in Ft. Smith, graduating from West High School as a member of the “Class of 1935.” She and her family moved West during the depression years, settling in Southern California.

On Feb. 6, 1938 in Los Angeles, Calif., Elizabeth married a handsome young Marine named Robert Bradford who had been her high school pen pal. To this holy union two sons and two daughters were born.

Elizabeth and Robert retired to Janesville in 1988, moving here from Los Angeles. A devout member of the Roman Catholic faith she became active in Susanville’s Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. An accomplished seamstress, she shared her talent with other members of the church and community. Elizabeth also found enjoyment in working in her yard and garden.

In passing, Elizabeth leaves her sons, Robert Jr. and his wife Cheryl, of Richfield, Minn., David and his wife Virginia, of Evanston, Ind.; daughters, Anne Dhein and her husband Darryl, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Susan Murray and her husband Jim, of Kilbeggan, Ireland; along with her precious 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Elizabeth joins her husband Robert; three brothers, Ralph, Harvey and Billy; and sister, Alyce, in their eternal home.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated for the repose of Elizabeth’s soul Friday morning, Jan. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Susanville, Calif. Interment will follow in the Diamond Crest Cemetery along side her late husband. George James Kves, Jr.

Westwood resident George James Kves, Jr. passed from this life peacefully, with his family at his side, at his residence early Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sacramento, Calif. Aug. 8, 1945 to the late George Sr. and Gladys (Wood) Kves, he was raised and educated in Elk Grove where he graduated high school as a member of the Class of 1963.

On Dec. 12, 1964 George married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Neva Moberly, and to this union one son and two daughters were born.

Shortly following George’s high school graduation he went to work for the City of Lodi and later worked in the construction industry, retiring after 35 years as a laborer.

George and Neva relocated from Lodi to the Northeastern California community of Westwood in 2003.

First and foremost a devoted family man, George’s other passion in life was the outdoors, especially fishing. He also found enjoyment in "puttering" around his home.

In passing George leaves the love of his life, his wife Neva, of Westwood, Calif.; daughters, Tammy Elaine Baer and her husband Robert, of Paradise, Calif., Connie Marie Arms and her husband Darren, of Hilo, Hawaii; son, James Wayne Kves and his wife Tracy, of Ione, Calif.; the pride of his later life, his grandchildren, Daniel, Kandis, Dustin, Crysta, Darren, Jr., Breahnna and James, Jr., Travis; and his great-grandchildren Cavyn, Caliegh and Brody. He also leaves behind his sister, Elaine Kves-Bailey, of Las Vegas, Nev.

BurtDouglas “Bubba” Marshall, 35, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012.

He was born Nov. 22, 1976, in Portola, the son of Adrienne Nascimento, of Portola, and Eugene Marshall, of Renton, Wash.

He is also survived by his sisters, Sherri Marshall, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jami Kaufman, of Reno, Nev.; his partner of 13 years, Christle Stephens; and his son Dylan Marshall, of Doyle.

In lieu of cards and flowers, a trust fund has been set up at U.S. Bank inMarshall’s name for his son Dylan Marshall. Donations can be made at any branch.

Erna Seda passed away on Jan. 4, 2012 in Susanville, Calif. She left her birthplace in Czechoslovakia and came to this country in 1950 with two small children, so her family may rebuild and have a better life.

She will be forever remembered lovingly by daughters, Julie Ann Brown, of Susanville and Milada (Mia) Rode, of Susanville; sons, Milan Seda, of Yuma, Ariz. and Joe Seda Jr., of Loveland, Colo. She will be fondly missed by five grandchildren, Catherine Seda, Dr. Jennifer Seda, Justin Brown, Travis Brown and Corey Brown and by one great-granddaughter, Liala Brown.

Words alone cannot express the sorrow felt by family and friends of her passing, although our mother, grandmother and friend will be forever in the memories of those still living.

“Even after generations pass, when your name is forgotten, your influence will still be felt. Today is a day to celebrate a life lived.”

A private memorial will be held to honor both parents’ Celebration of Life this spring in Lone Pine, Calif.
