Congressional candidate to visit Westwood

July 15, 2008 — Fred and Sheri Binswanger are having a House Party for Charlie Brown, the democratic candidate for the United States Congressional seat in District 4, and everyone in the Westwood area is invited to their home at 463-515 Parkwood Drive in Pinetown. Brown will attend the event Saturday, July 19 that begins at 7 p.m. It will last until guests have had a chance to get acquainted with the candidate and have their questions answered about his stance on the issues.

House parties hosted by Brown supporters are a way for the candidate to get to know the residents of the communities that are a part of District 4 and listen to their concerns. These gatherings also give people in District 4 an opportunity to personally meet the candidate. It is a campaign method that has been embraced by Brown and his supporters.

According to Brown’s bio, he was born in 1949 and raised in rural Iowa where he learned to hunt and worked on his grandfather’s cattle farm. When he was 13 years old he decided to become an Air Force pilot and entered the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1968. After graduating in 1972, he flew helicopter rescue missions in the Vietnam War. He also served in Desert Storm. He retired from the Air Force in 1998 as a lieutenant colonel.

Brown and his wife, Jan, live in Roseville. They have a son, Jeff, who is an Air Force captain and a daughter, Stacey, who just received her degree from the University of California, Irvine.

To learn more about Brown and his stances on the issues go online to the campaign Web site at charliebrownforcongress.org.

For further details, attend the house party hosted by the Binswangers.

This is Brown’s second run for Congress. He ran for Congress in 2006 against eight term incumbent John Doolittle and lost by three percentage points.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring a folding lawn chair, because the gathering will begin outside. Desserts and beverages will be served.

For directions or more details, call Sheri Binswanger at 256-3197.
