May 13, 2008 — Officers from the Susanville Police department arrested a man allegedly connected to a stabbing that occurred off Johnstonville Road. According to a press release from the department, officers responded to a residence at 2965 Johnstonville Road at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. A man called 911 at 11:51 p.m., telling the dispatcher that he stabbed his roommate with a knife because he attacked him. Adding to the suspicion was the fact that the man called again, this time saying his roommate stabbed himself with the knife.

When officers arrived at the house, they found a 68-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body. The victim, who has yet to be identified, was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. to receive treatment.

Officers arrested 74-year-old Wendell Ross Lomba at the scene, allegedly for assault with a deadly weapon. Lomba was booked into the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility afterward. His bail has been set at $15,000.

SPD Chief Jeff Atkinson said the case is still under investigation.
