Westwood Pastor's home catches on fire
Franklin and his wife Jennifer were awakened by the smoke alarms in their home and immediately smelled smoke coming from the attic. They called 911 and moved their children over to the assistant pastor’s home.
“Fire had engulfed the attic quickly,” said Franklin, “and I think we were fortunate to get out in time.”
Franklin also emphasized, “It’s just stuff. My family is fine and I have everything I need for now. And I’m very lucky that tomorrow is casual day at work because all I have is a pair of jeans right now, everything else is in the house.”
Franklin’s wife, who is 15 months pregnant with their fourth child, was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene but was leaving to go to Seneca Hospital once she settled her children in because she was “feeling short of breath.”
“This is the perfect example of why everyone should have working smoke detectors in their home,” said Jennifer Franklin, “they literally saved our lives.”
The cause of the fire was unknown but Franklin said, “It might have been electric.”
