The Department of Planning and Building Services is currently reviewing and updating the Lassen County Housing Element. The Lassen County 2014-2019 Housing Element is designed to address the projected housing needs of current and future County residents and comply with State law requiring adoption of the Housing Element by June 30, 2014 (Sections 65580 – 65589.8 of the Government Code). Public involvement is encouraged to complete a Housing Element Update that reflects the needs and requirements of the residents of Lassen County.

The Housing Element is a component of the Lassen County General Plan and is required to be updated every five years. The Element provides an assessment of current and projected housing stock and land available for development; addresses the housing needs of identified populations including seasonal workers, the elderly, the disabled, low and very low income, and others; and outlines the County’s plan and programs to meet housing needs and demand during the planning period.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Project Management Branch is requesting Statements of Qualifications from firms interested in providing architectural and engineering design services for the design and construction of new kitchen/dining facilities at the

California Correctional Center (CCC).

The project includes demolition of the existing buildings and their replacement with two new buildings. The new Arnold Unit kitchen and dining building will be approximately 3,900 sq. ft. and feed approximately 250 minimum security inmates per day. The new Antelope Camp kitchen and dining building will be approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and feed 125 conservation camp and CCC firehouse inmates per day. During fire season the Antelope Camp kitchen cooking capacity will be expandable to 1000 meals per day.

The conceptual design for each kitchen includes a pre-engineered metal building with a service loading dock and related paving and fencing. The design of the new buildings must accommodate high levels of foot traffic; withstand extreme thermal variations and extreme wet conditions; finishes must provide durability and ease of cleaning; include commercial grade kitchen equipment and include storage areas for dry, refrigerated and frozen food. Both buildings will be designed for sustainability per Executive Order B-18-12.

A notice to proceed for architectural and engineering design services for this project is subject to budgetary, legislative and control agency approval of the proposed projects.

Public Hearing Notice

The City of Susanville will hold a public hearing to solicit comments on proposed Resolution No. 14-5041, amending Resolution No. 11-4754, establishing Rates and Fees for City services for fiscal year 2014-2015.

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as the agenda permits) in the City Council Chambers, 66 North Lassen Street, Susanville. The public is invited to attend and provide oral and/or written comments. Due to the resignation of two members of the Board of Trustees of the Johnstonville Elementary School District, the Board voted at its April 9, 2014 meeting to call for provisional appointments to fill the vacated seats. Community members wishing to be considered for a provisional appointment must:

         1.      Be a resident of the school district listed above.

2.      Complete a questionnaire, which may be obtained by contacting at the Johnstonville Elementary School District Office, 704-795 Bangham Lane, Susanville, California, 96130, (530) 257-2471. Completed questionnaires must be submitted to the Johnstonville Elementary School District Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

Applications from candidates meeting the above qualifications will be reviewed by the Johnstonville Elementary School District Board of Trustees, and the Board may fill the vacancies at the May 14, 2014, regular meeting of the Board.
