Lawsuit challenges SPI rezone

Aug. 26, 2008 — A citizen’s group has challenged the Lassen County Board of Supervisors June 10 decision to rezone nearly 5,500 acres of productive timberland owned by Sierra Pacific Industries because it alleges the decision goes against the county’s general plan, and the supervisors failed to conduct “a meaningful environmental review of the development that will be the undoubted result of the rezoning.”

At the Lassen County Fair, in a dunking booth, sits Lassen County Sheriff Ron Jarrell. He gives a good-natured warning to a ball thrower attempting to dunk him. Jarrell was one of a long list of local dignitaries who donated their time at the dunking booth.
