A lightning storm that came through California on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22 caused hundreds of fires across the state, blowing smoke into Lassen County, causing evacuations and road closures in various areas.

July 1, 2008 — After hearing comments and concerns regarding the Lassen Union High School District pursuing the purchase of a new facility for Diamond Mountain Charter High School, Board President Ken Theobald formed a committee to ensure legal and proper steps are being taken to purchase a new building.
