Home schooling case will be reheard

April 8, 2008 — The California Court of Appeals has granted a motion to rehear the controversial In re Rachel L. case, which ruled a Southern California family could not home school under the California Constitution unless a parent is a credentialed tutor and that parents possess no constitutional right to home school their children.
 

Developer's bankruptcy raises county concerns

April 8, 2008 — When Dyer Mountain Associates, the lead developer of a proposed 6,700-acre, four-season resort near Westwood dropped a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in federal court in San Francisco on Thursday, March 27, it raised a number of issues for Lassen County.

April 8, 2008 — Steven Lewis Barnett, a former correctional officer, will be held to answer felony charges of attempted murder, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, spousal abuse, a great bodily injury enhancement and a misdemeanor charge of battery.
